Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Shaw + Smith Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz is a premium single site wine from the close planted, low yielding Balhannah Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills.
Planted in 2005, the vines lie on a north facing aspect in soils of loam over clay, ironstone, quartzite and shale. All the fruit is handpicked and sorted.
The grapes are open fermented predominantly as whole bunches, with the remainder as whole berries. The juice sees gentle plunging and minimal working during fermentation.
The wine is then aged in French oak puncheons for 14 months, followed by a further 14 months in bottle prior to release.
Inky garnet, Shaw + Smith Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz is a finely textured Shiraz: complex, structured and fragrant. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
